He’s a player. She’s too smart to let him in her pants. Until a night of drunken sex has her kicking herself and vowing she’ll never let it happen again. Or will she?
After returning home due to her father’s illness, Elise Phillips reunites with her college friends, including Luke Long. Luke was a player back then, and Elise had always prided herself on not being another notch on his bedpost.
Luke is still gorgeous though, and he knows it. And he checks all her boxes—intelligent and sexy with muscles and a hard body.
Following a night of beer and shots, her resistance runs out, and he finally does check her box. And Elise knows that it can never happen again.
Luke had always thought of Elise as the pretty girl that was friends with his roommate’s girlfriend, but now she’s all grown up. When their night of passion rocks Luke’s world he realizes he must have her again.
The two enter a friends-with-benefits relationship with the agreement that they’re just going to have fun. The only thing is, with mutual friends involved, they have to hide their indiscretion.
But what harm can come from a dirty little secret?
Dirty is the first contemporary romance from paranormal romance author R.L. Kenderson. If you like laughing out loud, sexy book boyfriends, playful couples, and dirty, dirty sex, then you’ll love this fun contemporary romance.

Author Interview

Name / Pen name
R.L. Kenderson

Where are you from?
Minneapolis/St. Paul area in the U.S.

Tell us a little about yourself: (mini bio)

R.L. is actually for Renae and Lara. We are two best friends who write books together. We met in college and while Renae was always an avid reader, that was where Lara gave Renae her first romance novel. Renae is a part-time sonographer, an almost full-time stay-at-home mom, and a wife. Lara is a pharmacist and a mom. And in our spare time we write steamy romance novels.

What genre are your books? and what made you write in that genre?

We write contemporary romance and paranormal romance. We never even talked about writing books in any other genre because we love romance novels.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

We wrote our first book in 2012. We were 32 and 33. We didn’t publish until 2014, though.

Where do you get your ideas for your books?

From our heads mostly. Sometimes we get ideas from reading and thinking what we would do differently and then build a story around that. Or sometimes you read about something in the news and you think…that would make a good romance novel. Ideas can really come from anywhere.

How long does it typically take you to write a book?

If we sit down and write, write, write, we can do a book in less than two months. The bad thing is then we’re both kind of burned out by the end, and then we don’t want to write for a while. We are working on spacing things out. Writing less per day but taking shorter breaks so that in the end we will hopefully publish sooner.

How many books have you written? Which is your favourite?

We have written five books. Four paranormal romances and one contemporary romance. Right now, the favorite would have to be Dirty. It’s something different from what we’ve done before and we had a lot of fun writing it.

Do you have a favourite Character from your books?

Renae: My favorite character is Luke from Dirty. I just love him. I want everyone to get a chance to meet him.
Lara: Right now, my favorite character is Phoenix from our paranormal romance series. She’s facing her fears and going after what she needs to feel her life is complete. But the favorite definitely changes with each book.

What would you say is the hardest thing about writing?

Finding the time to do it. Lara works full-time and Renae has three kids. Sometimes there is just not enough hours in a day to get in the writing we want.

What would you say is the easiest thing about writing?

Coming up with the basic storyline. (This is before we have to figure out how we’re going to make it into a full-length novel.)

Do you ever suffer from writers block? How do you overcome it?

Sometimes. This is what’s great about writing with your best friend. We get to brainstorm together. And then when one thinks of something, it can spark something in the other. Brainstorming together can be really fun.

Have you done any collaborations with other writers?

At this time, no, but we would totally love to do it.

If no -who would you love to collaborate with?

How about…anyone who approached us. We’re not picky.

Are you currently working on something right now?

Yes and no. We released Dirty in July and our fourth paranormal in August. With four rounds of editing, formatting, blog tours, and whatnot, we haven’t had much time to write anything like we want to. But we are trying to get a few words down every day.

Can you tell us a little about what it is about?

It is going to be a prequel to Dirty. The heroine and hero in Dirty have a couple of friends who are engaged and we decided to go back and write how they met and fell in love.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

We didn’t even know they had a story because they were side characters in Dirty, but now that we’ve gotten to know them better, we’re excited to tell their story.

What do you think of reviews?

I think a lot of authors have a love/hate relationship with reviews. On one hand we love reviews! We love getting to know what readers thing about our books. Sometimes we get an awesome review on a really bad day and it can totally make us feel better. The hate part is that it can be really hard to even get reviews, sometimes. It’s hard to let readers know if our books are good or not if there aren’t very many reviews.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you for taking a chance on our books! We wouldn’t be here without you. And to the readers who followed us from the beginning, thank you for sticking around while we were on a two-year hiatus for very personal reasons. Thank you for being patient.

Some facts:

How do you relax?

Reading, watching TV, and hanging out with each other.

What is your favourite quote?

“If you can’t be a good example, you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.”

What is your favourite film and why?

Renae: My favorite movie is Love Actually. One, it takes place around my favorite holiday, and two, it shows there is different kinds of love, like brother and sister and friendship. It’s not all romantic love.
Lara: Favorite? Impossible. Favorites? Clue, Princess Bride, Oscar, Diggstown, almost any Christmas movie, Emperor’s New Groove…..I have a problem.

Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?

Renae: I’d love to meet Melissa McCarthy. She is just awesome. I love that she doesn’t conform to society standards. Melissa does Melissa. And she’s funny. I think it would be so fun just to hang out with her for a day.
Lara: Again, almost impossible to choose. But I really like Robert Downey Jr. because he’s had such a hard road with addiction and now seems so giving. Plus, super hot.

Where can you see yourself in 5 years time?

Hopefully working less at our day jobs and working more on writing. It’s the dream anyway.

About the Author

R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. Renae has always loved reading and in third grade wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then she knew she wanted to write her own.
When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.
They both live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day and a sexy author by night. You can find them at http://www.rlkenderson.com, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and Goodreads. Or you can email them at rlkenderson@rlkenderson.com. They always love hearing from their readers.
